About Dwight Mihalicz

Globalization, the economy, and the constant push to innovate makes organization design and management effectiveness key issues in businesses around the world. With over 40 years of experience in a variety of industries, Dwight Mihalicz, founder of Effective Managers Inc., has helped local, national, and international organizations achieve greater productivity, efficiency, and organizational performance. Complex times call for serious solutions; Dwight Mihalicz’s breadth and depth of experience, knowledge, and organizational know-how are integral in making those solutions work for your organization.

There is a theme of humanism throughout Dwight’s work; in addition to philanthropic work with various organizations, he devoted many years of his career to the Red Cross, fulfilling a variety of roles and helping the society thrive with streamlined processes, reduced infrastructure, increased productivity, and enhanced services in Canada and around the world.

In 1995, Dwight took a position as Director for Revenue Generation with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, requiring that he work with National Societies from all over the world to develop and implement fundraising initiatives. During his time with the Federation, he worked to enhance relations between the Federation and multinational corporations, and instituted policies and procedures that facilitated effective fundraising, among other duties.

In 1999, Dwight began working with Capelle Associates. Here, he could apply the extensive experience he had amassed with global and multinational corporations to issues relating to organization design and efficiency. From assessing an organization’s current state to identifying areas of improvement to implementing effective change, Dwight helps companies, not-for-profits, and government agencies improve overall performance.

As Senior Vice President and Partner, Dwight assumed management duties and began working closely with Capelle’s president on growth and strategic direction of the firm.

Dwight remains an Associate of Capelle Associates and continues to provide organization design services to clients, but he has added yet another title: entrepreneur. He has recently established Effective Managers TM, a consultancy focused on increasing management effectiveness, primarily in North American and European organizations. Through Effective Managers TM, Dwight provides management consulting to organizations that want to both increase the productivity and effectiveness of their executives and better utilize their managers’ expertise.

Dwight earned an MBA from the University of Ottawa, where he also recently served as the Director of the Dean’s Advisory Board at the Telfer School of Management and Director of the Advisory Board for the Centre for Global and Community Engagement. In 2013, Dwight was inducted as an Honorary Member of Beta Gamma Sigma by the Telfer School of Management, the highest honour a business student can receive through an AACSB accredited university. Dwight is actively involved with the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (ICMCI), and holds the CMC professional designation. HR.com has appointed Dwight to sit on their Canadian Masters in HR Strategy & Execution Advisory Board.

An author of many papers and publications, Dwight has recently published The Effective CEO: The Balancing Act that Drives Sustainable Performance, a book that explores the key functions that must be carried out by a successful CEO.
